Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

A few of the questions we hear most often. Have another? We'd love to talk.

What is Trinity's purpose?

Trinity’s goal is simple: to worship God, grow together as disciples of Jesus Christ, and serve our Martinsburg neighbors with open hearts, open minds, and open doors.

Is Trinity a United Methodist church?

Yes. Trinity is part of The United Methodist Church, in the Baltimore-Washington Conference. We’re also part of the Martinsburg Cooperative Parish, sharing pastoral leadership with our sister congregation, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

What are Trinity's distinctive beliefs?

As United Methodists, we follow the Wesleyan tradition — reading Scripture as our primary guide, in conversation with church tradition, reason, and experience. We believe God’s grace is extended to everyone, and that faith grows through worship, community, and service.

A summary of our beliefs is available on our Beliefs page.

Do you baptize infants?

Yes. United Methodists practice infant baptism as well as believer’s baptism for those who come to faith later in life. If you’re considering baptism for yourself or your child, we’d love to talk with you.

What is a typical worship service like?

On a given Sunday morning, you can expect:

  • Hymns and congregational singing
  • Scripture readings
  • Prayer, together and in silence
  • A sermon grounded in Scripture
When do you celebrate Communion?

We celebrate Holy Communion as part of our worship life, with an open table — all who seek Christ are welcome to receive, regardless of church membership. Ask a greeter or call the church office if you’d like to know the schedule for an upcoming Sunday.

Is Trinity family-focused?

Yes — we welcome families of every shape, along with individuals who are single, widowed, or navigating life on their own. Whoever you are, there’s a place for you at Trinity.

Still have questions? Please approach one of our pastors before or after Sunday worship, or call the church office during the week — see our About page for contact details.
